DEATH OF MRS. BARWARTH
End Came Sunday to Woman Who Had Acted as Nurse Many Years
Mrs. Mary Catherine Barwarth died at her home in the northwest part of town at 11:45 Sunday morning of tuberculosis of the throat, after a lingering illness of more than a year.
She was 60 years old, and had been a practical nurse for fifteen years.
Three children and her husband survive, the children being Mrs. F. J. Bockenfeld of Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. H. P. Hogan of Kansas City and Jonas at home. She also leaves a brother, John Ritz, of this place, and a sister, Mrs. Theodore Furst, of LaPlata.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's Church. Rev. D. J. Donovan conducted the services and delivered an appropriate sermon. Burial was in the new cemetery of the church.
Mrs. Barwarth came here with her mother, when 12 years old, from West Point, Ia., to live on a farm seven and a half miles northwest of Edina. She was married here at 17 years of age to Martin Barwarth by Reverend Stempher at St. Joseph's Church. She was born in West Point, Ia., September 27, 1857.
