About Mary T. Brown (Wassmuth)

SPOKANE Mary T. Brown, a longtime Orofino resident and a former Greencreek, Idaho, farmer, died of complications of surgery Thursday April 28, 1994 at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Spokane. She was 73.

She was born Oct. 8, 1920, at Cottonwood to Michael and Ann Poxleitner Geis.

She was raised and attended school at Cottonwood and worked for a time for Dr. Pierce there.

On Nov. 22, 1938, she married Louis Wassmuth at Cottonwood. They lived and farmed at Greencreek for many years. He died Dec. 28, 1952.

She continued to run the farm until marrying Herb O. Brown at Pendleton, Ore., July 7, 1953. They moved to Orofino in 1963.

She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and the Altar Society at Orofino. She enjoyed church volunteer work, crocheting, flower gardening, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband at Orofino; three sons, Edward Wassmuth of Greencreek, Jerry Wassmuth of Le

wiston and Ted Brown of Orofino; two daughters, Donna Fuchs of Lewiston and Judy Kimberling of Orofino; two stepsons, Merle Brown of Milton-Freewater, Ore., and Sid O. Brown of Orofino; a stepdaughter, Dorothea Wilkes of LaGrande, Ore.; four brothers, John Geis and Ray Geis, both of Lewiston, Joe Geis of Cottonwood and George Geis of Keuterville; six sisters, Grace Remacle and Martha Riener, both of Cottonwood, Frances Nuttman of Keuterville, Margie Gentry of Orofino, Rose Steiger of Kamiah and Rita Walker of Birmingham, Ala.; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Vern Wassmuth; two brothers, Martin Geis and Xavier Geis; and a sister, Ann McKinley.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 tonight, with rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., all at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel at Orofino.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church with the Revs. John O'Sullivan and Kenneth Arnzen as celebrants.

Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at St. Anthony's Cemetery at Greencreek.
