General Notes: Having lost their youngest child, David, on the journey to South Africa, Mary never got over the loss, and not being used to the rough life of a Settler and Pioneer, her health soon gave way and she died in an ox wagon on the 2 January 1822 (other date given 21 January 1882) on her way to Bathurst, to the wedding of her daughter Elizabeth to William Gradwell.
