Mary's parents were Peter Groom or Groome and Elizabeth Groom, the father living Brunswick Twp, Burlington Co., NJ and in his will dated 12-9-1726, mentions his wife, Ellizabeth and 9 children, among them Mary. Her grandfather, Samuel Groom, with his mother, Elizabeth Groom, executed a Power of Attorney in 1683 to the Governor of NJ authorizing the sale of property in NJ left him by the will of his father, Mary's great grandfather, Samuel Groom, Senior, a mariner, who died in Ratcliffe, Middlesex County, England leaving a will dated 8-21-1682, which was filed in London, E. where his wife Elizabeth and the son llived. The son, subsequently came to America and settled in Brunswick Twp., Middlesex, NJ.
