• ************************ Owned a female slave named Fan who was freed upon his death. His will states:

"Also it is my will and pleasure that my negro wench named Fan be entirely set free to be her own without any hindrance our molestation to go where she may think proper and act for herself. Be it remembered that if my said negro wench should become helpless and not able to support herself by labor that my four sons William James David & John must do it on consideration on the real estate aforementioned provided that the said negro wench do not stole away out of this place and thereby become disabled..."
