About Mary Jane Farrington
Mrs. R.C. Farrington Dead
Mrs. R.C. Farrington died at her home in North Chatfield on Friday morning, April 16th, at 2:30 o'clock, after an illness of about seven weeks.
Mary Jane Baker, daughter of Abraham and Mary Baker, was born in Warsaw, Indiana, March 25, 1851. When she was 12 years old the family moved to Minnesota and settled on a farm in Jordan, where she grew to young womanhood. She was married to R.C. Farrington at Fillmore in July, 1900. For the past ten years they have made their home in Chatfield. An active member of the Methodist church since early girlhood, she was always an earnest supporter of that faith. She was a charter member of the local order of the Eastern Star.
A short prayer service was held at the house at 1:30 Monday afternoon and the funeral was conducted from the M.E. Church. The services were all in charge of Rev. E.C. Teachout assisted by Rev. Haley, of Dover, a former pastor of the deceased. The remains were laid away in the Chatfield cemetery. The floral offerings were profuse and especially beautiful and testified to the regard in which the deceased was held.
Besides the bereaved husband, she leaves to mourn her loss a step-daughter, Miss Evalyn Farrington; two sisters, Mrs. T.H. Odell of Madison, S.D., who has been here for the past 10 days, and Mrs. Mullen of Portland, Oregon, and six brothers: S.D., William, Henry, James, and John Baker, living in this vicinity, and Enoch Baker, of Minneapolis. A nephew, Edward Baker, of Minneapolis was here to attend the funeral. The family have the sincere sympathy of the community in their hour of sorrow.
