Mary Thomas Fife Birth: Oct. 27, 1801 Washington County Pennsylvania, USA Death: Apr. 19, 1870 Tyner Marshall County Indiana, USA
Mary Thomas Fife was the daughter of James and Lydia (Haines) Thomas and was probably born on the farm which her father owned in Washington County, PA. The Thomas family were Quakers and Mary used the quaint "thee" of the Friends in her letters to family members.
Mary married William Fife, son of John and Margaret (Wright) Fife of Cannonsburg, Washington County, PA. in 1818. They had twelve children: Lydia, William, Nancy, James, Martha, twins Josiah and Samuel, Mary, Margaret, twins Elizabeth and Catharine, and Isabella.
After William's death in 1844, Mary lived with her daughter Lydia Halliday in Tyner, Indiana. She is buried in the Tyner Cemetery near her daughter and son-in-law.
