Mary was the daughter of William Whitfield and Mary Elizabeth Goodman. In 1733 in Windsor, Bertie Co, NC she married John Graddy. They had the following children (in order of birth): Mary, William, John Jr., Charity, Anne, Alexander "Old Bud," Lewis, Catharine, Elizabeth "Betsy," Margaret "Peggy," and Frederick "Uncle Fred." Mary died on the Graddy plantation at the fork of the Northeast River and Burncoat, near Kornegay's Bridge.
