Mary Hutchinson

Mary Hutchinson married Joseph Langman in Monkwearmouth. County Durham, on the 14th October 1844. Both Joseph and Mary signed the marriage certificate with their mark. Joseph's occupation was recorded as being a mariner as was the occupation of both Joseph's father Edward Langman, and Mary's father, Mark Hutchinson. The marriage certificate goes on to state that at the time of the marriage both Joseph and Mary were living at 20 Queen Street.

The 1851 census has Mary Langman (nee Hutchinson) living at 78 North Quay in Monkwearmouth. Both her sons are shown as having the surname Langman on the census. However, this is incorrect as they were both born well before her marriage to Joseph. They were both born out of wedlock and their surnames would have been "Hutchinson":

Mary died sometime before the 1881 census.
