From information given in the several Federal Ce nsus reports, it appears that the first four of James and Mary's chil dren were born in Indiana and the others in Tennessee. The first rec ord of James and Mary after their return to Jefferson, Tennessee wa s on a tax roll of 1826.</p>s Biggs owned several tracts of land in the community of Ne w Market, Jefferson County, Tennessee as evidenced by deeds execute d in 1835, 1839 and 1844. One of the deeds, dated August 21, 1844 sh owsthe sale of his farm to pay two notes due September 1, 1844.</p>mil ton County, Tennessee. Of the 160 acres, 70 acres were improved an d the other 90 acres unimporoved. The Census shows that he owned $70 0 in personal property; farming implements and machinery valued at $4 5; 5 head of horses; 2 milch cows, 4 other cows and 40 swine all valu ed at $275; his crop in the previous year had consisted of 14 bushel s of wheat; 500 bushels of Indian corn, 150 bushelsof oats, 26 pound s of wool, 10 bushels of Irish potatoes, 75 bushels of sweet potatoe s and 75 pounds of butter. Mary Biggs died on September 24, 1852 jus t one day after the birth of their fourteenth child, Carrelmay.</p>braska.</p>
