About Mary Elizabeth (Mollie) Langston

DEATH OF MRS. D. N. LANGSTON

Many relatives in Lawrence county mourn the passing of Mrs. D. N. Langston, aged seventy-one, whose death occurred at the family home at Oakvale. Mrs. Langston had been in ill health for some time and had been confined to her bed for the last several months. She moved to Oakvale from Marion county in 1907 and since that time has been a faithful member of the Oakvale Baptist church and esteemed citizen of that community.

One feature of the golden wedding anniversary celebration of Mrs. Langston at Oakvale on December 25, 1932, was the presentation by her of a quilt, her own handiwork, to each of her ten living children. The high esteem in which she was held was shown by the large number in attendance for the last rites held at the Society Hill Baptist church with a former pastor, Rev. B. E. Phillips of Newhebron in charge of the services. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Hartman establishment of Brookhaven with a service by the Oakvale chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which Mrs. Langston was a member. Interment took place in the churh cemetery.

Mrs. Langston is survived by her husband and ten children. The daughters are Miss Amy Langston of Oakvale and Mrs. W. T. Douglass of Phoebe. The sons are S. L. Langston, Jackson; S. C. and J. J. Langston, Parchman; A. W. Langston, Eldorado, Arkansas; D. N. Langston, Jr., of Louisiana and J. G. Langston. One brother, Mr. William Parnell of Georgetown, also survives, besides many other relatives. Mrs. Langston has one son buried in France and her oldest daughter was killed in an automobile accident some years ago. She was an aunt of Judge J. Q. Langston of Columbia and of Dr. D. T. Langston of Newhebron. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved loved ones.
