5 October 1580: Elizabeth Heriot, daughter of James Heriot of Trabroun, is named as the heir remainder to Marie Maitland, daughter of Richard Maitland of Lethington, in a charter by which William, Lord Ruthven, confirms that he has given an annuity of one hundred merks to Marie Maitland, to be taken from his lands and barony of Ballerno and Kirknewton in the sheriffdom of Edinburgh.
