About Mary Blanche Mcmath

Mrs. Mary Blanche (Starr) McMath, 83, of Shade Valley passed away Thursday, December 15, 1955, at 2:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Reilly of Shade Gap. Mrs. McMath had suffered a stroke following an illness of nearly thirteen months. The deceased was born September 2, 1872, in Shade Valley, a daughter of Jacob and Mary Anne (Gallagher) Starr. She was united in marriage to William L. McMath of Shade Valley April 13, 1896. He preceded her in death December 10, 1942. Mrs. McMath was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shade Valley and the Rosary Society of the church. She was a homemaker and mother who contributed much in making a happy home for her husband and children, and gave much of her time to the sick in her neighborhood. These children survive: Mrs. Charles H. (Elizabeth) Reilly and Mrs. J. Carl (Marcella) Fleming of Shade Gap, Mrs. W.R. (Genevieve) Johnson of Rohrsburg, Bernard S. McMath and John E. McMath of Shade Valley and Samuel J. McMath of Germany Valley. One son, Jacob, preceded her in death February 20, 1920. One of eleven children, Mrs. McMath is survived by the following sisters: Mrs. M.J. (Della) Krugh of Munhall, Mrs. Samuel (Jennie) Adams of Missoula, Montana, and Mrs. Chauncey J. (Julia) Piper of Shade Valley. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Funeral mass will be solemnized Monday, December 19, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shade Valley. The Rev. Fr. J.B. Golias will be celebrant of the mass and interment will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery by Ott's funeral service, Orbisonia. Friends may call at the Charles Reilly home in Shade Gap after 7 p.m. on Saturday. The Rosary will be recited in the Reilly home at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
