About Mary Lucille Nixon
Lucille Nixon was the eldest daughter of Elmer F. Nixon and Cora Gerberich. She was born on a small farm in Seville, Ohio. Her parents moved to California where she attended school and later became a teacher. She was one of the fifteen winners in the Japanese tanka poetry contest post 1957. The Lucille M Nixon Elementary School of the Palo Alto School District, dedicated Sun, Oct 18, 1970 at 2pm at 1711 Stanford Ave, Stanford, CA 94305 was named in her honor; the school was built "in the round" very innovative for the time. Mary was killed in a car vs. train accident.
