Mary Owen

Mary Wilson, born December 12, 1767 in New Jersey daughter of John Wilson and Lydia Thatcher. Married a David Owen in Jefferson Co., Kentucky on November 22, 1791. This marriage is listed on GRS CD #229 and for Jefferson County Kentucky on November 22, 1791. We have information that she died in Livingston, Co., Kentucky on August 12, 1823. Records of the gravestone show she died in August of 1821 in place of 1823. David died about 1832 and both are buried in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery located in Livingston Co., which is now Crittendon County Kentucky, due to a new county being created in 1842. According to Lucille Kline’s book she tells that their were three children, William, Martha, and a Nancy Lydia that married Jacob Laymon. This was based upon Neels Trigg Co., KY Statistical Handbook. We have received papers with the Probate Papers of John Wilson where the Court in Livingston Co. Kentucky had appointed a William Owen to act with Power of Attorney for all of the children of Mary Wilson Owen in collecting her share of her father's estate. It list the children to be, William Owen as guardian for Martha Owen and Nancy Owen both being minors at the time and from Livingston County Kentucky. Also there was a Brackett Owen and his wife who were from Jennings County, Indiana, an Elizabeth Owen who had married a John Anderson, and they were from Oldham County Kentucky. Also John Owen, Littleton Owen, Lydia Owen who husband was Thomas Threlkield, and Sarah Owen whose husband was Peyton Lodge or on other papers it was spelt Hodge. All of these last children were living in Livingston County, Kentucky.
