Mary Elizabeth Parsons was born to James or Isaac Parsons and Amanda Batric in New York. Miss Parsons had crossed the plains in 1848, driving two yoke of oxen. She was born May 12, 1829, and baptized by Isaac Clark in Macedonia, Hancock county, Illinois. She married James Calvin Earl April 26th 1849, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. They were blessed with nine children, namely, Amanda Ellen, James Calvin Jr., Tobitha Jane (also known as Tabitha), Louisa Ann, Mary Elizabeth, Cyrus Hibbart Wheelock, Sylvester Henry, Minvera, & Rosetta Earl. Amanda Ellen married Joseph Brigham Nay, James Calvin only lived about 10 months, Tobitha Jane married Elijah Cutler Behunin, Louisa Ann married Ormus Bates Nay.
