Mary (Elizabeth) Phelps

Mary was known in earlier genealogies as Elizabeth. Her maiden name may have been Marshall, but her parents are not proven.

She was the mother of four children, all baptized at Crewkerne:

1. William bapt. 9 Sep 1618;
2. Samuel bapt. 5 Aug 1621;
3. infant, bur. Crewkerne, Jan 1623-24
4. Nathaniel bapt. 6 Mar 1624-25.

Died 8/1626.

Biography

William married twice. First to Mary (maiden name unknown), in or by 1618, based on oldest son's baptism. date. She died in 1626. Then William married Anne Dover (not Mary Dover, Ann Mary Dover, Mary Ann Dover, etc.; many have confused or conflated the two).

Her parents are unknown.

<references />* Crewkerne Parish records, Mary's death date for Mary Phelps is recorded in Sept 1626 section: "Aug 1626 Marie the wife of William Phelps was buried the xii th day of August." The marriage date was based on the oldest son William's bapism date which was recorded in the baptism records: "Sept 1618 William the son of William Phelps was baptized the ix th day of September.". I have a copy of these records.
