Mary C. Gibson was born in 1705 at Hanover County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Thomas Gibson (1667-1734) and Mary Allen Gibson (1642-1734).
Mary married John Phelps (1705-1772) in 1721 in Virginia. Col. John Phelps was the son of John Phelps (1683-1747) and Martha Margaret Talbot Phelps (1684-1747).
