Mary Brown Powell

Polly was the daughter of Nathan and Lydia [Dewey] Brown. She married Russell Brown 1807 in Stonington, New London, CT. Russell and Polly removed from Stonington, CT to Pharsalia, Chenango Co., New York shortly after the War of 1812.

They had three sons all born in Stonington, CT. [1] Russell Brown Jr. (b. 1808- d. 1886) he married, Avis , also buried at this cemetery. [2] William SHERMAN Brown married Catherine . They have a beautiful family monument at this cemetery. [3] Nathan Brown(1812-1884) married Olive Thornington , they are also buried at this cemetery.

After the death of Russell in 1848, she married Elijah Powell, who was also widowed. Elijah is buried at the East Pharsalia Cemetery with his first wife.

After the death of Elijah, she lived with her son, William Sherman Brown and his family in Pharsalia. Polly was still living at the time of the 1880 US Census in Pharsalia, Chenango County, New York, aged 91 years.
