Mary Helen Shields (2nd)

Mary Ellen was born on the 6th December 1888, her parents 10th wedding anniversary.
She must have brought great joy to the family as her parents had lost her older sister named Mary Helen too.
The first Mary Helen died at the age of six months, in 1882. Her cause of death was Bronchitis (12 hrs).
Sadly Mary Helen the second would also died of Bronchitis at the age of 10 months. This had lasted for one month. She died in the home that she was born in.
Her older sister too died at that address.

In November 1889, Hugh and his wife, Mary Ellen had a son, Charles. Very sadly Charles died at the age of two days. His cause of death was given as Premature Birth 8 months.
He died at the same address as his two older sisters.

Child mortality was very high in those times.
