About Mary Noyes Smith, 1st wife

Daughter of John and Mary (Noyes) Denison and a descendant of William Denison of England, who came to America in 1631. She was also a descendant of John Howland, a passenger on the Mayflower, 1620.

Mother of 16 children. Edward, the oldest, was born in Groton and the others in Stonington, where they all appear in the baptism records of First Church; eleven of whom married and had children, three died between ages 20-33 and two died as infants.

Biography ==Mary Noyes Denison, born 24 Jan 1741/42 at Stonington, Connecticut, was the sixth child of John and Mary (Noyes) Denison, his second wife.

She married Oliver Smith. They had at least 3 children.
Mary Noyes (Denison) Smith died 17 Sep 1800 at Poquonock Bridge, Connecticut. Note: Ancestor of noted actor Ted Danson (III)<ref>"Puritans and Pioneers." <i>Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.</i> (Season 4,Episode 3). PBS. 17 Oct 2017.</ref> through her son Denison Oliver Smith.
