Daughter of Christopher and Mary Fort.
History of Lewis County, Kentucky:
September Tern 1820 of Court: Christopher Fort, as a citizen of Lewis, is mentioned as a juryman to assess damages on a roadway. An old lady, Peggy "Margaret?" Fort (Christopher's 3rd wife he married when he was 99 years old), lived with Alex. Vance, near Concord (Lewis County), in 1837. She was one hundred and five years old when she died, and had been blind for a number of years. She was Mr. Vance's mother-in-law and the grandmother of Mr. George Vance. Thus the name Vanceburg, KY.
Living at Peter Fort's Station, Mary (Polly) Fort (16 years old) married James Ward (29 years old) in April 1793. 1850 Carter County Census indicates Mary (Polly) Ward with Jackson Brown Ward & Louisa Ward family at the age of 70 years old.
They had a child named Polly (Mary) Ward who married William Smith on October 2, 1822 in Greenup County, KY.
