Mary (Lawrence) Walton was a New Yorker.
Mary Lawrence, the third daughter of Thomas Lawrence and Mary (Unknown) and most difficult of the three daughters to prove According to Furman, she was born between 1640 and 1650.[2] The Great Migration Begins suggests she could have been born as late as 1652.[3]
A marriage license was issued for Thomas Walton and (Unlisted First Name) Lawrence on 16 December 1671 in Staten Island, New York.[4]
Mary Lawrence and Thomas Walton had at least five children all born in Staten Island:[5][6]
- Thomas Walton (b.1682; d. 1737), m. Mary Stillwell, no children
- William Walton (b. 1675; d. 1747), m. Mary Santvoort
- Mary Walton (b. 1676; d. 1742), m. William Ricketts
- Matthew Walton (b. 1678; d. abt 1713), m. Rebecca Lockerman
- John Walton (b. 1680)
All of these children would have been fathered by Thomas Walton by 1689, for during that year, he was arrested in New York for sedition during Leisler's Rebellion. Thomas Walton died intestate between 8 July and 12 December 1689 in Richmond County, Staten Island.[7][8]
Mary (Lawrence) Walton married 2) John White about 1703. She is referred to as 'Mary White' in relation to a matter concerning her step-mother, Mary (Ferguson) Lawrence of Newtown in 1704.[9]
According to Phillips (1945), who refers to Mary (Lawrence) Walton-White as 'Esther', Mary was born about 1750 and died in 1732.[10]
