Book- Our Kin by Laben Milles Hoffman 1915, page 475
Mary Hoyle, the daughter of the pioneer, Peter Hoyle and his wife Catherine Dales, married John Henry Whittenburg. I think that the Whittenburgs lived in N.C. till at least one of their daughters was grown up. Christina Whittenburg, who I think was the oldest child of Mary Hoyle and Jno H Whittenburg, married Peter Best, her 1st couisn, the son of Catharine Best, her mother's sister. They were married in N.C. in 1779. The Whitenburg family then moved, I think to East Tennessee and late to Illinois. In Tennessee they lived in Blount County.
