About Maud de Fay

<https://ssl.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=no&a=http%3A%2F%

Children: 1. Agatha de CLERE b: c. 1220

There is no primary or even secondary confirmation for the idea that she was the widow of the William de Braose who was starved to death by King John. Some datings suggest that she was in fact much too young to have been married to him at all. And considering the chronic CLARE - CLERE problem....

[A] writ dated 27 Dec "46 Hen III", after the death of "Richard Lungespeye" refers to the manor of "Brumleghe" in Surrey being held by “John de Fay...after whose death it was parted between his two sisters Maud and Philippa, and from the said Maud issued a daughter Agatha...” http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ENGLISHNOBILITYMEDIEVAL3.htm#_Toc38...

There is (sketchy) documentation for Maud as daughter of Ralph de Fay, but none for her as daughter of Beatrice de Turnham - and John was certainly Ralph's son by an unidentified first wife. Some (secondary) sources claim that the marriage between Ralph de Fay and Maud de Turnham was childless.
