Melvin George Munter was born 5 September 1910 on the home farm of his parents, Gust and Marie Bjerke Munter in Hill River Township, rural Fosston, MN. He attended rural school in the township (Nystrom School), and resided there his entire life.

He was married to Ellen Bergerson December 29, 1948 in Lengby, MN and they resided and farmed the home farm. 

He was baptized and confirmed at the Asphult Lutheran Church and was a member there until it closed. He was presently a member of Kingo Lutheran in Fosston, MN

Survivors include his wife Ellen, 2 sons, 8 grandchildren and one great grandson; one brother Carl P Munter of Fosston and one sister Ruth (Mrs Lloyd Roed of Fosston. Two Aunts and several nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
