Mendle Abraham Beer-Oppenheim

Mendel Beer Oppenheim is incorrectly shown on Geni here as son of Beer.

To make matters worse, he is incorrectly shown in Ele Toldot (both on his own sheet (=um 1740) and on Abraham Openheim’s sheet (=19 IX 1696) as the son of Abraham.

His father is neither of these.  This leads people to simply put him with no father at all, such as here on Geni: Mendle Abraham Beer-Oppenheim

Mendel is the grandson of Beer, but the son of Ahron. This confusion is caused by Mendel calling himself Mendel Beer instead of Mendel Ahron Beer (although there are instances of him calling himself that). There is a correct statement quoted by Ettlinger on Mendel’s own sheet, confirming that Mendel is the brother of Isaac (=27 V 1719 HO 1717). n fact, ALL of the references on Mendel’s sheet confirm that Ahron is his father. It is just when Ettlinger was filling out the father’s name that he wrote “Awrom” instead of “Ahron” and unknowingly added to the confusion.

Mendel was named for Mendel Bacharach Leucht (=28 Jan 1654 HO 786 Epidat ffb-3046) father of his mother Channa (=18 XI 1676 HO 1068) first wife of Ahron Beer Oppenheim.
