(there has been considerable study by genealogists as to the role of Metje Grevenraet's foster parenting of the Martens child. From what can be determined about the social standing of Metje and her siblings, the Grevenraets were of good standing in the community in those days. • appears in The 1667 Tax list of New York as a property owner: " Mattie Greverart " This is undoubtably her as the Grevenraet family owned so much property in the area of Marketfield St.
She may have lived with her brother Isaac who is shown on Marketfield St. on the Castello Plan.
