The first record I have found of Michael Gore, in Baltimore County, is 29 March 1755, when he purchased, from Thomas Harrison, 321 acres of Murray's Plains. On 4 March 1760, he added, in a purchase from Adam and Elizabeth Goose, 42 acres more of Murray's Plains. On 14 Sep 1766.

There is some question concerning the actual buriel place of Michael. He and Sibbel may be buried in Reisterstown United Methodist Church Cemetery where they have a memorial stone, or they may still be in their original buriel site on the homeplace. Michael's birthdate is also in question. The memorial stone gives his birthdate as 1710. A descendant, Katherine H. Heinzerling McNair in her DAR application for membership, gives his birthdate as 1727, but gives no source for that date. My belief is that the memorial stone, which was erected by , Michael's grandson is probably correct.

Great grandson of Michael, Dr. Albert Philip Gore, a Baltimore dentist, according to Augusta Fothergill, who interviewed Dr. Gore in 1926, had in his possession the papers of Michael. Among these papers were pages from Michael's and Sibbel's bible, on which were recorded the birthdates of their children. Michael's papers, writen in his own hand were written in English; the births of the children were recorded in German, leading Mrs. Fothergill to speculate that Michael was English and Sibbel was German. Mrs. Fothergill, in the same year, interviewed my great, great grandmother, Caroline Wilhelm Gore, widow of Captain Charles Gore (War of 1812), at her home in Middletown, Baltimore County, Maryland. It was a lengthy interview and as a result, I learned many things about my Gore ancestors that I had not previously known. Mrs. Fothergill's Gore interview with Caroline is included in the papers of the Hon. Thomas Pryor Gore.

Fortunately for those of us who are Gore descendants, Thomas Pryor Gore, blind U. S. Senator from Oklahoma, starting with his own relatives, wrote to every Gore across the country that he was able to identify, seeking information on their ancestry. It appears that the response was great. Upon his death, the University of Oklahoma became custodians of Senator Gore's papers. Among them was his extensive genealogy collection, which included the interview with Caroline Wilhelm Gore and other information on the Gores of Baltimore County. Thanks to Joyce Gore Locke, who negotiated with the University to obtain Senator Gore's genealogy collection and then published it in her "Gore Family Newsletter", many of us have valuable information on our ancestors that we, otherwise, would never have known.
