About Mignon L. Clyburn
Mignon Letitia Clyburn (born March 22, 1962) is a Commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) since she was nominated by President Barack Obama on June 25, 2009, and sworn in on August 3, 2009. She was renominated for an FCC Commissioner on June 7, 2012, and her term as a commissioner will end in 2017. On May 20, 2013, she was appointed by President Barack Obama as Acting Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission.
Commissioner Clyburn is the daughter of U.S. Representative Jim Clyburn and a member of the Federal Communications Commission.
In 2009 she was designated a Women's History Month Honoree by the National Women's History Project.
Prior to her role at the Commission, Ms. Clyburn served as editor, publisher, and general manager of the Coastal Times Newspaper. She is very active in both Richland and Charleston county communities
