Miles Cary

1. Miles Cary (1701-1766) of “Pear Tree Hall,” Warwick County, married Hannah Armistead, daughter of William Armistead.

His second wife was Ann (—) Howard.
Miles left a will in York (will dated 11 Oct. 1763, recorded 11 Dec. 1766), as did his wife, (will dated 26 Jan. 1768, recorded 18 July 1768).

1. Elizabeth Cary (18 Dec. 1753 - 9 Mar. 1778) married William Hay of Surry County 1774.
2. Col. Miles Cary (1 Sept. 1757 -1806) of “Bonny Doon,” Southampton County, married first Frances Briggs Peterson in Southampton County 26 December 1782, second Griselda Buxton in Southampton County 31 January (bond) 1785, and third Elizabeth (Booth) Yates, daughter of George Booth and widow of Col. William Yates, in Sussex County 5 November (bond) 1795. He died Southampton County (will dated 18 June 1806, recorded 21 July 1806).
3. Nathaniel Cary (19 Oct. 1763 - 15 Nov. 1767) died young.
4. Mary Cary 29 Aug. 1760).
5. Richard Cary married Catherine Dudley and they were the parents of two. He represented Warwick in the Virginia House of Delegates 1785-8, 1798-1801 and was a senator (1792-6) and member of the Convention of 1788.
6. Miles Cary 1763-1798 married first Elizabeth Jones and second, Annie Robinson.
7. Polly Cary married William Cary.
8. Hannah Cary] married Maj. William Dudley.
