THE MINOR WINN FAMILY OF VIRGINIA
Minor Winn came to Fauquier County, Virginia, from Wales in the early 1700's. His wife, Margaret O'Connor, came from Ireland. The Immigrant Minor Winn made his will on July 1, 1775, and it was proven on March 23, 1778. He named his wife, Margaret, his executrix; and his son, Minor (Jr.), his executor. Minor Winn was born 1704 in Westmoreland, Virginia, or more likely, in Wales; he’s identified as an immigrant from Wales in early studies (see above) and on his tombstone.
He died 23 MAR 1778 in Old House Rock Hill, Warrenton, Fauquier Co.,VA, and was buried 1778 in Fauquier Co.Leeds Parish.
Minor Winn married Margaret O'Connor probably in Westmoreland county, Virginia before 1727. (based on est. date of first childbirth). See < PDF > page 7.
33. Margaret O'CONNOR was born ABT 1708 in IRELAND, and died AFT 1778. She was the daughter of 66. William O'CONNER and 67. Margaret ?. Was her name actually Connor? (as shown in her mother's will).

Minor had married Margaret O'Conner/Conner (Mary Margaret O'Conner) 1726[citation needed] in Virginia. His wife is named as Margaret in his will.[2]
His FindAGrave memorial page only links 1 son and one daughter, but does show a memorial plaque with his wife named as Margaret Connor, and on the plaque names nine children.[3]

Minor passed away in 1778 at the age of about 74 and he has a monument placed at Warrenton Cemetery located in Warrenton, Fauquier, Virginia [3]

Will was written on 31 July 1775 a Codicil to Will was added on 5 Feb 1778 Will was Proven on 27 July 1778[2] and[4] Listed in the Will are Wife Margaret, sons William, John, James, Minor and Richard. Daughters Margaret Johnson, Mary Smith, Susanna Grant, granddaughter Martha Smith and daughter Elizabeth Smith.

His son, Minor Winn, also had a daughter named Margaret Connor Winn, who married a Neal.[5]

A memorial stone for his family[3] states that sons:
John, Richard and William were surveyors who founded the town of Winnsboro, South Carolina. They were officers in the South Carolina Militia in the Revolutionary War.
