About Mitchell Andrew Plancich

"Our family lost its patriarch on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Providence Hospital, Everett, Washington. Mike was surrounded by his devoted family and will be greatly missed. Mitchell A. Plancich was born February 21, 1928 on Vashon Island to Lucas and Effie. He was the fifth of eleven children. He married Bobbie in 1958 and together they shared a lifetime of affection for each other and their family. Family was his life's joy! Mike's professional journey was inspired by his love of the sea. He spent over 60 years in the marine business. As a commercial fisherman, shipbuilder, accomplished boat designer, and marine surveyor. He reluctantly retired in 2004 after a stroke. Mike was a devout Christian and demonstrated these values through example. Even as his health declined he never complained, he only encouraged and supported others. He was a Storehouse Ministries Pastor, and volunteered on missions to impoverished nations (Albania, India.) Mike also acted as US Naval Sea Cadets Chaplain for many years. He was a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen (past president, Everett Chapter.) He also volunteered as a guidance counselor at the Everett Gospel Mission and the Department of Corrections in Monroe. Mike made a difference! He will be remembered thoughtfully by everyone fortunate enough to have known him. He created many friendships and maintained them lifelong. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing stories about the Gospel, the boating/fishing industry, and about his beloved family. Some of Mike's favorite things were "cheering" for his grandkids (soccer, horseshows, softball...) watching the Mariners or any football game, engaging in political banter, snuggling with the dog, weekend road trips, watching his garden grow, and savoring a strawberry waffle!
