Mons took over both sheriff term and farm from his father-in-law. "A good-natured and popular sheriff".

As per Jerry Rowe: Mons and Brita had three sons and a daughter. Mons is successor to Nils Samsonson at the Tjugum Farm. He is the last one to own the entire farm before it is divided in two.
