Montagu Thomas Ffrench

Montagu Thomas Ffrench was born on the 21st August 1819 in Bermondsey. He was a Catholic and attended St. Edmunds College at Oxford before joining the Indian Army. He rose to the rank of Colonel for the Madras Staff Corps and won an Indian Mutiny medal. He married Georgina White in 1854 (born in India) and had five children including Thomas, who was also born in India (French Colony BS) on 23rd December 1862, Joseph, (Captain) Arthur, Aloysius and one sister Philomena who died in infancy.

Listed as Lieutenant Colonel in Ref: Officers in the Madras Staff Corps from Hart's Army List, 1873.
