In 1905 Moricz married Frieda Deutsch who was the eldest child in her family. In 1922 Frieda died during an operation for gallstones. Moricz then married Frieda's youngest sister Irena ("Ire") Deutsch. Moricz and Ire had no children.
Moricz had studied in Budapest to become a rabbi. However he changed his mind and worked in the family business as a leather merchant. Moricz worked with his brother David. He had a reputation for great honesty.
In 1944 Moricz and his second wife Ire perished in the gas chamber at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp.
