About Morris Agre
Died before 1950 1950 phonebook lists only sophia.
Kive Agre paid for Moische's passage over to US. Entry from:
the passage lists nearest relative in homeland Louie Agre from Petrosk
It also says on p2 that he is coming to father (looks like Nachman...) 2 married sisters and 2 married brothers. Also says 1 married sister in NY. Does this make Daivd a brother as I originally thought and not an uncle or is this Michel (can find no record of him)-
this would mean most likely that Clara and Mally are correctly identified as his sisters.
Note: naturalization papers Morris spelled his name Moress.

Family lore says that Morris was kicked out when he was 16 and lived in the forest for awhile. He eventually made his way to the southern coastal cities where he made quite a bit of money as a trader in the bourse and married minor aristocracy and then made his way to the US. If this is true- how did he keep in touch with his brother and have his brother bring him over? however, he was able to pay passage for 6 very quickly. Keith said he wasn't sure about being kicked out, but he did know that Morris was a successful trader in the bourse. He was never successful in the US. Morris was given special privileges to travel outside of the country (China) and lived beyond the Pale- a privilege very few jews had. Apparantly, Morris was also quite a gambler and womanizer. When did she live with her sons?
Per a conversation with Celia Ann Toll (11/8/09) her grandmother is Clara Sara Agre Friefelder. Clara had 2 sisters Molly Laskey (I think she married Laskey later and first marriage was to Eisenstein) and Esther (william) Graff, (note: on the manifest of Nachman the father -it lists his age as 50 and 2 children mochman? and ester age 15) Could Ester be the sister of Clara and Nachman their father- the only problem is no one's ages match correctly. Perhaps they called Ester aunt so Celia thought she was a sister rather than niece? 4 brothers Nathan, Moiche,Kiva and Avrom. I can't find any evidene of a Nathan except as a father in law to Eisenstein but perhaps it should read brother in law to Eisenstein. Celia said she had never heard the name Eisenstein but he pays passage for a Malke Agre. Eiisenstein was quite a bit older 12 years than Molly and Abram lived with them= plus Nachman was going to them on the manifest. Perhaps he died and Molly remarried.
Moische and Kiva would spend lunches with their sister eating fish stew. Celia remembers they both had mustaches- Kiva was gray (hair and mustache) and Moische's was very full and dark. (per Celia)
Died most likely in the mid 40s
