About Musician J. C. Julius Langbein

The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Musician Johann Christoph Julius Langbein, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 19 April 1862, while serving with Company B, 9th New York Infantry, in action at Camden, North Carolina. A drummer boy, 15 years of age, Musician Langbein voluntarily and under a heavy fire went to the aid of a wounded officer, procured medical assistance for him, and aided in carrying him to a place of safety.
