Nancy Ariania Briant Randolph was born on November 13, 1819, in Tennessee, the child of James Jackson Randolph (1782-1864) and Lucretia Sheffield (1789-1880)
She married Lewis Hogan Little on November 18, 1840, in Lincoln County, Tennessee. They had nine children in 13 years.
Nancy and her husband moved to Rusk County, Texas, about 1845-46. Their first four children were born in Tennessee: John Randolph, Martha Ann, James C. Jones, and Samuel Miles Little. After the move to Texas, 5 more children were born: William H., Nancy Lucretia, George Washington, Amanda Adaline, and Lewis Hogan Little, Jr.
She died as a young mother on August 1, 1854, in Rusk County, Texas, at the age of 34, just 2-1/2 months after the birth of her youngest child, Lewis Hogan, leaving her husband with many young children to care for. He soon remarried on November 26, 1854 to Elizabeth Bell who was born in 1816.
At the beginning of the Civil War in the United States, Lewis Hogan Little Sr. and his three oldest sons answered the call for volunteers. Sadly, they all died in Arkansas during the war. The company that they were believed to be attached to fought in the Battle of Pea Ridge in 1862 and Lewis (Sr.), John, and James died soon after the battle. Samuel died in 1864. That must have been some glorious reunion in Heaven with Lewis' deceased wife, Nancy, and the mother of the young men who died in the war!
