In her heritage, as is well known by many, is her grandfather, the orphan, Thomas Bailey Christian. He died in Bandy. ( see map ) < for orientation purposes, Jeffersonville is shown (in the Baptist Valley). Nancy + Jesse and first children lived there in 1860 before moving north to the Iaeger area. Jesse's many letters reveal that he moved around with his work. For instance, before Nancy had children (late 1850s) they were living in a cabin in Logan County.
The 1900 census states that she had had 10 children, of which 8 were then alive.
birthplace of her brother Jackson
Maiden Spring on wikipedia.
~• comment: As several historical figures of some consequence lived here who did not bear the the Reed surname, we might assume that consequently the Reeds were part of a larger work force or tenant farmers.
