William Hopwood, Late 1700's VA

William Hopwood was born in 1741, place unknown. He married Nancy Ann Willis who was born 1750. William bought land on Panther Creek in Pittsylvania Co., VA on Oct 8, 1779 and lived in the Whitethorn Creek area until shortly after 1810 when he went to Bedford Co., TN with probable sons John and the Reverend Willis. William died in 1817 and Nancy died in 1830 and both are buried on the old Willis Hopwood plantation in Marshall Co., TN. Another William Hopwood was born in VA in 1736, served in the Rev. War and moved to Fairfield Co., OH and died in 1833. Both of these have been mentioned as a son of Moses. I would appreciate any help in getting these and any other William Hopwoods in this time period cleared up. I would be happy to share any information I have.

He was a minister of the gospel, and was among the first to accept the new doctrine that the Bible alone is the standard by which to measure Christian character. His labors were fully rewarded in this world by seeing many souls converted. He died in 1850 after a long and useful life. His wife died in 1868. He was of Scotch-Irish blood from his ancestors.
