BLOOMING PRAIRIE --Nathan Dale Christianson, age 76, of rural Blooming Prairie, died at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield on Tuesday evening, July 11, 2006. He was born March 9, 1930, to Bennett and Athena (Kruger) Christianson in Mower County, Minn. He lived on the home place in Udolpho Township his entire life except while he was serving his country in the Army. Nathan served in the Army from 1950 until 1953. He married Viola E. Iverson on March 3, 1956, in Lake Crystal. He drove for Elk Oil for 24 years and Central Co-op for 17 years and part time after that. Nathan was a Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church Council member and also belonged to VFW Post 878 and American Legion Post 52 in Blooming Prairie. He liked sports, music, woodworking, camping and traveling. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Viola, of rural Blooming Prairie, Minn.; daughters: Dawn (Dean) Peterson, of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; Karen (Dan) Zander, of New Richmond, Wis.; Cheryl Deppe, of New Richmond, Wis.; Kristi (Donavon) Selchow, of Hamburg, Minn.; ten grandchildren: Kari and Kelly Peterson; Barbara and Nathan Zander; Elise, Joseph and Matthew Deppe; Bennett, Arthina and Anna Selchow; brother, Roger (Joyce) Christianson, of Blaine, Minn.; sisters: Berniece (Victor) Schlinger, of Austin, Minn.; Patricia (Tom) Seavoy, of Nordland, Wash.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, rural Blooming Prairie, with The Reverend Bruce Falksen officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment is at Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie, with military rites by VFW Post 878 and American Legion Post 52. Casket bearers are Scott Basness, Brett Christianson, Jay Christianson, Scott Iverson, John "Pete" Kittelson and Tom Miller. The family prefers memorials to Autism Research.
