"In 1869 Nathan Stampfer was one of the founding members of the Cornerstone Lodge #323 of the Order of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Charter members included Moses Fraley, Jacob Furth, Joel Swope, Abraham Kramer, David Levy and Leopold Schoen. Other early members of Cornerstone Lodge were Albert S. Aloe, August Frank, Aaron Haas, Leon Helman, Nathan Stampfer, Jacob Strauss, Louis Renard, Leopold Freund and Aaron Rosenthal".

From Zion in the Valley, Volume 1, Walter Ehrlich, University of Missouri Press, 1997.
