Nettie May Winterowd was the daughter of Hezekiah Cartwright Winterowd and Anna Thompson.
She married Edward Byron Martin, son of John Martin and Flora Indora Benedict, on October 18, 1893, in Montour, Tama County, Iowa; they were married until her death. The couple had three children, namely:
Wanda Sybil (Martin) Hewitt (1894-1962), wife of Lee Jackson Hewitt; George Edward Martin (1901-1978); and Byron M. Martin (1905-1953).

"OBITUARY. Martin.
Mrs. Nettie May Martin, aged 30 years, wife of E. B. Martin, 708 Wood street, died at her home Monday night at 7:20 o'clock of eclamptic convulsions. The family lived in this city but a comparatively short time. Besides the husband there is a son [sic-daughter Wanda], 10 years of age, a daughter [sic-son George], 4 years old, and an infant son. Mrs. Martin is the daughter of Hezekiah Winterowd, living four miles north of LeGrand. Relatives who were here at the time of Mrs. Martin's death were Mr. Martin's sister, Mrs. John O. Bohen [sic-Boehm], of Des Moines; and Mrs. Martin's brothers, Ross and Linn Winterowd, of Oelwein, and her niece, Mrs. Elmer Colbaugh, of Tama.
