Nevada married James Wesley Proudfoot (13 Mar 1858 - 13 Sept 1892) on 27 Feb 1882 in Barbour County, West Virginia.

Nevada was the daughter of David Marshall Findley (20 Oct 1841 - 8 Sept 1865) and Mary Ellen (Husted) Findley Whitney (8 Sept 1841 - 1897), who married on 24 Jan 1863. David was born in Taylor County, West Virginia, to William Findley (born c.1813) and Emiline (Cole) Findley (born c.1812). David died of consumption.

Mary may be the Mary Whitney (1841 - 4 Nov 1897) who died in Weston, Lewis County, West Virginia, and is buried in the hospital cemetery there. That Mary was born in Taylor County, West Virginia, and she was a farmer's wife. _____

In the 1880 U.S. Census, Nevada was living in Randolph County, West Virginia, with her mother and step-father, Edwin H. Whitney (born c.1820). Edwin and Mary Ellen had married in 1872 in Taylor County, West Virginia.
