About Newell Walton
Lived in Abbeville District, SC and in Amelia Co, VA
Newell was the son of Dr. John Walton Sr. and Mary Sims. He married Agnes Woolfolk (1758-1810.) They had 9 children that included Nancy Elizabeth, George Garland and William Woolfolk.
Newell enlisted in the Continental Army in Louisa Co. Virginia, January 5, 1781; served 24 days as private under Capt. Harris, 2nd Division, Virginia Militia. Beginning March 10,1781, served seven months as private under Capt. Thompson and Capt. Dabney, 2nd Virginia Regiment. He was seventeen years old when he enlisted. He applied for a pension when he was 69 yrs. old. August 10, 1832. His claim was allowed.
He moved to Lincoln Co.,Georgia in 1795 and then to South Carolina in 1822.
Newell died in Abbeville and his burial is unknown
