About Nicholas Netterville, 1st Viscount Netterville
Succeeded his father at age 20. Nicholas was considered a person of good qualities and on this account was considered by King James I worthy to be advanced to the peerage of Ireland to which he was accordingly raised April 3, 1622 by the title of Viscount Netterville of Dowth. The fee was 13l, 6s, 8d payable out of the customs of the port of Dublin. See text for attendance at parliamentary sessions.
He joined with the lords of the Pale in the rebellion and was outlawed as a result on 17 November 1642. He died in 1654 and was buried at Mountown in the county of Dublin
