Brief overview:
Nico (35), a farmer from farm Derdekraal, Roedtan, outside Polokwane in Limpopo Province, was attacked on the night of Friday 7th October 2022. He was hit with an iron pipe then shot dead.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said five men travelling in a white Toyota Corolla with an unknown registration number arrived on the farm under the pretext that they wanted to buy milk.

- A mass march was organised for Monday 23rd October 2022. People from as far as the Western Cape will march to Roedtan, Limpopo in support against farm attacks and murders.
- The district agricultural union in Mokopane (Potgietersrus), Floris Booysen, wants to draw international attention to farm attacks and murders with the march and expects people from all over the country to attend. "We are fed up with the attacks on our farmers and want to raise awareness about it with the march. Something must be done," he said.

- One of the suspects, Albert Mangena, was arrested at Moletji outside Seshego the next day on Saturday 08 October 2022 and had already appeared in court on Monday 10 October 2022. He was remanded in custody until 24 October 2022.
- Mangena was arrested during a tactical intelligence-driven operation after the perpetrators' vehicle was seen in Moletji, in the Seshego policing area. The police recovered two 9mm pistol magazines, 30 live rounds of ammunition, and 9mm double magazines.
- The Police have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the farm attack that took place at Roedtan on Friday night, 07 October 2022. The suspects were arrested at different locations in Moletjie outside Seshego. A 34-year-old male suspect was apprehended at Ga-Chokwe village and his accomplice aged 44 was nabbed at Mmotong wa Perekisi, Ga-Mokgokong village.

- The latest two suspects are appearing in Mookgopong magistrate’s court today on Friday 14th October 2022.
- 24/10/2022: The accused applied for bail. However, the bail case was postponed until Wednesday 25th October 2022 due to load shedding in Roedtan.
- 26/10/2022: The court heard that cell phone records link these three men to the farm murder. Lesiba Solly Segwale, who is believed to be the mastermind the attack, was denied bail. He has several previous convictions, including rape, sexual assault and theft. He is now facing 11 charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, pointing a firearm, kidnapping and aggravated robbery. Lesiba Segwale was visibly unhappy when he and his co-accused Malesela (Albert) Mangena and Velly Segwale were escorted out of the courtroom after the verdict. His co-accused Velly Segwale has meanwhile dropped his bail application. Mangena's application will be heard on 4th November 2022. The case against Lesiba Segwale and Velly Segwale will continue on 24th November 2022.
- 02/11/2022: One of the suspects arrested (32) has also been charged in connection with the gang rape of five women at a funeral parlour in Malipsdrift in September 2022. He also allegedly shot another person and assaulted six others.
21/08/2023: The court heard that cell phone records linked at least three men to the farm murder. Lesiba Solly Segwale, one of the accused in the attack on the farm where he regularly went to buy milk, is suspected of having "organized" the attack. The court ruled today that the case will continue to allow for further investigative work. It must be presented at the next court appearance on September 5. The defence strongly opposed this decision.
