The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Norbert Bernard Eickhoff, age 85 of Albany, formerly of Holdingford, will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Holdingford. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Norbert died Friday at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Monday and again after 10:00 AM Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Holdingford American Legion and Holdingford VFW will pray at 6:30 PM followed by Parish prayers at 7:00 PM Monday at the church in Holdingford. Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford.

Norbert was born February 23, 1921 in St. Martin Twsp. to Frank and Gertrude (Thull) Eickhoff. Norbert was awarded the Purple Heart for his Army service in Okinawa during WWII. On September 25, 1946 Norbert married Virginia E. Hartung in Holdingford. The couple raised four children farming in the St. Rosa and Holdingford area. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Holdingford American Legion and lifelong member of the Holdingford VFW.

Norbert is survived by his children: Robert Eickhoff of Huron S.D., Richard (Sharon) of Albany, Mary Ann (Steven) White of Little Falls, Eileen (Al) Lockridge of Albany. 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Brothers: Raymond of Albany, Al of Anoka, and Melvin of New Munich. Sisters: Lorraine Hoppe of New Munich, Dorothy Buermann of Roscoe, Juletta Frericks of Sauk Centre, Regina Meemken of Melrose.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia in 1978, grandson Brian, two sisters: Marie Euteneuer and Evelyn Eickhoff, one brother, Valerian Eickhoff.
