Lorraine E. Hoppe, age 88, of New Munich, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 29 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating and Rev. Art Hoppe concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church in New Munich. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. followed by the St. Anneâ?TMs Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid, and Catholic Order of Foresters at 6 p.m. Sunday evening.

Lorraine Elizabeth Eickhoff was born July 27, 1922 in St. Martin Township, Stearns County to Frank and Gertrude (Thull) Eickhoff. On June 23, 1941 she married Benedict Hoppe at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. The couple farmed for many years in Oak Township, Stearns County until retiring in 1986 when they moved to New Munich. Lorraine was a recent resident of the Sacred Heart Manor in Freeport. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, quilting, and gardening.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, St. Anneâ?TMs Christian Mothers, Immaculate Conception Catholic Aid Council, and St. Leo Court 786 Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include her children, Carol DeMorett of Lindstrom, Gerri (Dick) Halfman of Duelm, Diane (Ed) Tamm of Fort Ripley, Donna (Bob) Bauer of Paynesville, Allan (Linda) Hoppe of Paynesville, and John (Bonnie) Hoppe of Louisville, KY; 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ray (Clotilda) Eickhoff of Albany, Dorothy (Robert) Buermann of Paynesville, Juletta Frericks of Sauk Centre, Al (Marion) Eickhoff of Anoka, Melvin (Norma) Eickhoff of New Munich, and Regina (Archie) Meemken of Melrose.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benedict Hoppe on May 27, 2001; sons, Francis and Donald Hoppe; son-in-law, Tom DeMorett and daughter-in-law, Judy Hoppe; grandchildren, Christina, Francis Jr., Amy, Chad, and Brandon Hoppe; one infant great-great-granddaughter; sisters and brothers, Marie Eueteneur, Evelyn, Norbert, and Larry Eickhoff.

Serving as casket bearers will be Brad Hoppe, Shawn Hoppe, Jill Tintes, Carla Selbitschka, Cindy Olson, Kelly Fisher, Chase Hoppe, and Trudi Hoppe. Cross bearer will be Pam Konietzko and scripture bearer will be Jodi Hildebrand. Gift bearers will be Christopher Hoppe, Brian Hoppe, and Debbie Larson. Eucharistic Ministers will be Bob and Donna Bauer. The eulogy will be read by Nancy Witt. Honorary bearers will be the residents of the Sacred Heart Manor in Freeport.
